A beautiful Summer day!

Today Brock and I went for a drive in the Mustang through the Nebo Loop. Well kind of, most of the loop was closed so we had to take a detour. It was so much fun though and absolutely beautiful. Personally, I felt that the Nebo loop is much more beautiful then Alpine. However, both are breath taking. While we were on our drive, Kyson was able to spend some time with his Great Grandpa and Grandma. He had so much fun with them! My grandparents absolutely adore him and enjoyed having him over. They took him to the park where he was able to swing on the baby swing and then Kyson took a nap with Great Grandpa!

After we got back from the loop Brock and I had a lot of homework to do. Kyson did not want to take his second nap, so I decided that we would try out the swimming pool again. He did a little better today, but any chance he had of getting out he would try and take. If I got him playing with a toy then he would be fine, but once he realized what I was doing he instantly tried climbing out of the pool. He was quite the little stinker today :)

As I stated before, Kyson did not take a afternoon nap and while at his great grandparents house he only took about a thirty minute morning nap, so by the end of the day he was extremely fussy. We decided that we would take him for a walk to help calm him down. About ten minutes into our walk, he had completely fallen asleep and when we got home he crashed and was pretty easy to get to bed.

I can honestly say that this is one of the best summers that Brock and I have had. Next week the summer is about to change though. Brock will be in school every day, all day long! Kyson and I will just have to bust out the swimming pool and have fun at the park.

Swimming Pool!

Well, Kyson got a new swimming pool the other day. He loves the bath tub and so we assumed that he would love the swimming pool. Especially since we had taken him to a swimming pool in California and loved it. However, his little pool does not have heated water and only fits him, so he is not the biggest fan. We are thinking/hoping that as the days get warmer and he has more time in the pool, that he will start enjoying it more. It was cute to see him in it though, he started playing with his bath toys but he just could not get over the cold. We shall see what the summer brings :)

We have also been taking Kyson on walks every night and he has loved it! There is a cute little park over by where we live and a creek runs along it. Every night we walk along the creek and he seems to love the sound of the water. Just the other day as we were walking along we saw a duck and her cute little babies. Kyson could not take his eyes off of them, it was so sweet!

Kyson is also enjoying the swing!!! He absolutely loves the swing and literally shakes with excitement every time we are near it and when he is in it. It has been so fun taking him to the park and enjoying the outdoors with him. Next week we will be taking him camping and I think that he will really enjoy it! We will take lots of pictures ;)

The Owlz Game

Tonight Brock and I took Kyson to the Owlz game. We went to the game with Taylor and Chad, it was so much fun! Kyson absolutely loved the game! In fact he was getting so excited that he started waving his arms and would clap when people started cheering. At the end of the game, before the fireworks started, Brock put Kyson on his shoulders. Kyson started getting so excited that everyone around him started to laugh. He was so adorable! I can honestly say that he enjoys the sport which makes him fit right into the Westover clan! He really loved Hoot the Owl, we were so surprised that he was not scared of the mascot. Everytime that Hoot would come buy, he would stand up and watch him walk away. He kept trying to find him! Kyson also loved the fireworks! It was a great start to a fun summer!

Baby Contest!!

Yesterday was Strawberry Days in Pleasant Grove. During the week of Strawberry Days they have a baby contest, so we thought we would put our sweet little Kyson in. We bought him this shirt that looks like an old 60's black leather Jacket (like the ones in Grease) a while back and thought that we would dress him up like Danny. We had him in his shirt, jeans cuffed up and we gave him a fohawk. Now the fohawk is definietly not a 60's hair do, but he looked super cute. We will have to take a picture and post it! We had a lot of fun. Kyson was giving the judges a show. In fact while we were in line he was getting so excited and the judges said that he was giving them a pre-show before we even got to the table. He didn't win, but he is number one in our eyes! He looked so adorable!

I don't know why but i feel like blogging today. So I have been thinking lately how much fun summer normally is. The last few summers i either worked through them and didn't do much out side, or kate was prego so we stayed inside. Well now that Ky is about a year old and its summer, we have been spending a lot of time out side and it really has been a blast! We have been going to parks and pushing kyson on the baby swings. He loves those! He really does! its so funny to watch him swing and how excited he gets in those. Another thing that has been awesome is driving in the mustang! If you didn't know i have a 93' mustang GT that i have been restoring in a way. I was able to paint it this past spring and it has been so much fun driving with the top down lately. We love to take kyson in it. At first he was amazed but slowly he got used to it. I'm not saying he dosn't enjoy it but he's not screaming with excitement everywhere we go but thats ok. One more thing that Kate and I have been doing this summer is walking. We have been walking every night on a couple of really cool trails here in Cedar Hills. It really is nice to get outside and enjoy the summer, specially before it gets to hot! We have really been able to enjoy this summer so far mostly due to me not working and just taking a few summer classes at UVU. Kate is still busy with her school at WGU. (Western Governers) So needless to say were both happy the summer finally decided to poke its cute little head and grace us with such great times!

Sixth Month Check Up

Well yesterday Kyson had his six month check up with Dr. Jeff. Kyson loves Dr. Jeff!! Things went really well and Kyson is very healthy. Ky is now 18 pounds 6 ounces and 27 inches long. He is in the 90 percentile for height, 75th for weight, and 25th for his head. Something hilarious happened at the doctor yesterday though. Dr. Jeff started talking to Kyson and told him that he would have to get shots today and that the nurse would be in to give those to him. Instantly, Kyson flipped Dr. Jeff the bird... That little guy sure doesn't like shots and wanted Dr. Jeff to know it. We all couldn't stop laughing... All in all though, he did really well with his shots. I honestly can't believe how fast times goes, it makes me so sad:-)

Kyson Jay Westover

So sorry that we have not blogged in ages!! Kyson is going to be six months next week, absolutely crazy! He loves solid foods, in fact he loves them so much that it is quite the chore to get him to take his bottle. He was weighed last week and he is currently 18 pounds and 2 ounces, he is growing like crazy. He is a major daddy's boy and is always excited to see daddy walking through the door from school and work. He loves playing with his toys and one of his favorite things in the world is bath time. Here is a cute story that happened this evening during bath time. Tonight while taking his bath Kyson figured out how to splash. For those of you who know, Kyson is a pretty serious little guy and it takes a lot of effort to get him to laugh, tonight though was a different story. Every time he or I would splash the water he would crack up laughing. The funniest part of it was that he would laugh after he did it and then a minute or so later he would laugh again, like he had remembered what just happened earlier, it was hilarious. It was one of the moments that I wish I got on video :-(. Not only does Kyson love the bath, but he has a major fascination with water. He will start drinking water regularly when he turns six months, but he is sure interested right now. Whenever he sees us with a glass of water, he follows it with his eyes all the way up to your lips and then tries with all of his effort to grab the cup and take a sip. One day I gave in and gave him a sip from my water bottle, now anytime he sees that water bottle he flaps his arms with excitement, opens his mouth, and grabs for the bottle. Kyson is such a sweet heart, he is always smiling and makes him mommy and daddy happier then we ever thought was possible.
