Baby Contest!!

Yesterday was Strawberry Days in Pleasant Grove. During the week of Strawberry Days they have a baby contest, so we thought we would put our sweet little Kyson in. We bought him this shirt that looks like an old 60's black leather Jacket (like the ones in Grease) a while back and thought that we would dress him up like Danny. We had him in his shirt, jeans cuffed up and we gave him a fohawk. Now the fohawk is definietly not a 60's hair do, but he looked super cute. We will have to take a picture and post it! We had a lot of fun. Kyson was giving the judges a show. In fact while we were in line he was getting so excited and the judges said that he was giving them a pre-show before we even got to the table. He didn't win, but he is number one in our eyes! He looked so adorable!

I don't know why but i feel like blogging today. So I have been thinking lately how much fun summer normally is. The last few summers i either worked through them and didn't do much out side, or kate was prego so we stayed inside. Well now that Ky is about a year old and its summer, we have been spending a lot of time out side and it really has been a blast! We have been going to parks and pushing kyson on the baby swings. He loves those! He really does! its so funny to watch him swing and how excited he gets in those. Another thing that has been awesome is driving in the mustang! If you didn't know i have a 93' mustang GT that i have been restoring in a way. I was able to paint it this past spring and it has been so much fun driving with the top down lately. We love to take kyson in it. At first he was amazed but slowly he got used to it. I'm not saying he dosn't enjoy it but he's not screaming with excitement everywhere we go but thats ok. One more thing that Kate and I have been doing this summer is walking. We have been walking every night on a couple of really cool trails here in Cedar Hills. It really is nice to get outside and enjoy the summer, specially before it gets to hot! We have really been able to enjoy this summer so far mostly due to me not working and just taking a few summer classes at UVU. Kate is still busy with her school at WGU. (Western Governers) So needless to say were both happy the summer finally decided to poke its cute little head and grace us with such great times!

Sixth Month Check Up

Well yesterday Kyson had his six month check up with Dr. Jeff. Kyson loves Dr. Jeff!! Things went really well and Kyson is very healthy. Ky is now 18 pounds 6 ounces and 27 inches long. He is in the 90 percentile for height, 75th for weight, and 25th for his head. Something hilarious happened at the doctor yesterday though. Dr. Jeff started talking to Kyson and told him that he would have to get shots today and that the nurse would be in to give those to him. Instantly, Kyson flipped Dr. Jeff the bird... That little guy sure doesn't like shots and wanted Dr. Jeff to know it. We all couldn't stop laughing... All in all though, he did really well with his shots. I honestly can't believe how fast times goes, it makes me so sad:-)

Kyson Jay Westover

So sorry that we have not blogged in ages!! Kyson is going to be six months next week, absolutely crazy! He loves solid foods, in fact he loves them so much that it is quite the chore to get him to take his bottle. He was weighed last week and he is currently 18 pounds and 2 ounces, he is growing like crazy. He is a major daddy's boy and is always excited to see daddy walking through the door from school and work. He loves playing with his toys and one of his favorite things in the world is bath time. Here is a cute story that happened this evening during bath time. Tonight while taking his bath Kyson figured out how to splash. For those of you who know, Kyson is a pretty serious little guy and it takes a lot of effort to get him to laugh, tonight though was a different story. Every time he or I would splash the water he would crack up laughing. The funniest part of it was that he would laugh after he did it and then a minute or so later he would laugh again, like he had remembered what just happened earlier, it was hilarious. It was one of the moments that I wish I got on video :-(. Not only does Kyson love the bath, but he has a major fascination with water. He will start drinking water regularly when he turns six months, but he is sure interested right now. Whenever he sees us with a glass of water, he follows it with his eyes all the way up to your lips and then tries with all of his effort to grab the cup and take a sip. One day I gave in and gave him a sip from my water bottle, now anytime he sees that water bottle he flaps his arms with excitement, opens his mouth, and grabs for the bottle. Kyson is such a sweet heart, he is always smiling and makes him mommy and daddy happier then we ever thought was possible.

Kyson is finally here!!!!

So this post is about a month late as of today actually. If you didn't know our son Kyson Jay was born on July 24 at 11:26 am, he weighed just 6lbs and 15oz and 19 inches long. This was the most amazing day of our lives! Kate actually was going in to the hospital for a checkup on the 23 when they decided to induce! I was working for Jeremy (my older brother) at a car wash up in Draper when I found out our son would be coming a week early. I was totally happy with it. I actually prayed a selfish prayer and asked God for him to let Kyson come a week early cause waiting any longer was gonna kill us. Looks like my prayer was answered. 18 and a half hours of labor, I was in the delivery room along with Kate's mom Mikki. Seeing the birth of my first son had to be the best moment of my life! I couldn't believe that he was finally here. He was perfect! I wouldn't change him for anything. Needless to say Kate's and my life have changed completely since that little ball of joy came into our lives. We are now used to getting 4-6 hours of sleep (if were lucky) and surprisingly changing diapers as well. I was lucky enough to not have ever changed a diaper before Kyson, well now i can say i have no idea how many diapers I personally have changed. For the record Kate probably has changed more than i have but its all good. We will try to be on top of the blogging thing to keep up with his life!

Katies Pregnant!!!!!!

Yes, thats right, Kate is Pregnant! Actually just about 5 months now so a little late on the "blogging" part but its all in good time. SO YOU WANNA HEAR THE STORY DO YA? DO YA? Ok i'll tell you the story, It all started when Katie and I got back from Palm Springs California for thanksgiving. Katie's grandparents and snowbirds so they move out there for the winter and live in Springville in the spring and summer. So needless to say, it was in the 70's for Thanksgiving, nice change from the cold utah weather. We returned sunday night, Katie had been feeling a little different and decided to take the pregnancy test with out telling me. I was checking the scores from the football games that day. I was excited! My titans won again! As I was getting ready to tell Katie, she came out of the bathroom glowing and excitedly told me she was pregnant! WHAT?!!!! SERIOUSLY!!!! I was flabbergasted! Me, being very logical (katie hates this about e but oh well) had to get more proof! So we went to the only store open that sunday night which was Walgreens and got 2 more tests! (Kate was worried she didn't have enough urine but i needed to know haha.) Sure enough, two more positives! Thats a total of three tests! So thats the story! Pretty cool stuff. Needless to say Katie and I are very excited for our new addition come August 1st. As of right now we still don't know what it is but we will find out the middle of next month so hopefully it comes fast. Kate and I both don't care what it is, were just happy to start our family!

Anniversary!

On Sunday, August 16 Brock and I will be celebrating our one year anniversary! We cannot believe it, what a wonderful year it has been. It has gone so fast, yet we feel like we have known each other forever. We will be celebrating our anniversary in Park City and we are so excited. You know, every one says that the first year is really hard. Honestly, there were a couple of hard times but it has been the best year of my life. I think the better way to put it, is that you have hard times but because of the love you have, it makes it easier. I love Brock with all my heart and I am so happy that I married him. I would be completely lost without him.
